Robert S. Kaplan

Robert S. Kaplan is the Marvin Bower Professor of Leadership Development at Harvard Business School. Formerly, he was on the faculty of the Graduate School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie-Mellon University, where he also served as Dean from 1977 to 1983. He is the creator of the Harvard Business School video series, Measuring Corporate Performance and the author or coauthor of more than 120 papers and ten books, including, with David Norton, The Balanced Scorecard: Translating Strategy into Action. Dr. Kaplan consults on the design of performance management and measurement systems, primarily the Balanced Scorecard and Activity Based Costing. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Outstanding Educator Award from the American Accounting Association and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) Award for “Outstanding Contributions to the Accountancy Profession.” Dr. Kaplan serves on the boards of Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) and the Balanced Scorecard Collaborative.
