Hirotaka Takeuchi

Hirotaka Takeuchi received his BA from International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan, his MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. He has been the Dean of Hitotsubashi ICS since 1998. His business experience includes account service work with McCann-Erikson Hakuhodo in Tokyo and marketing research with McCann-Erikson in San Francisco, as well as management consulting at McKinsey & Co., Japan. He is currently an outside director of ORIX Corporation, Trend Micro Inc., and Integral Corporation, as well as an advisor to Daiwa Securities Media Networks, British Petroleum, @Rigen, Hartford Life Insurance, Japan Venture Partners, Ogilvy & Mather, and L.L. Bean. His current research interests include (a) competitive strategies of Japanese firms, (b) globalization and its impact on industries and firms, and (c) management of the knowledge-creation process.
